The Coronavirus threat is something we must all address. Malzahn Law, Ltd. is responding as well to ensure the safety of our clients, staff, and the public in general. The measures suggested by the State of Minnesota such as frequent cleaning of all surfaces, providing hand sanitizer, avoiding close contact, etc. have been implemented. Likewise employees that are ill are encouraged to report the illness immediately, and will not be permitted at work.
Fortunately, much of what we do is typically done by other than face-to-face contact such as by email, the telephone, and U.S. Mail. In many respects, communicating in this fashion is very normal. However, in accordance with the recommendations from the State of Minnesota, from this point forward the need for personal meetings will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In general, meetings of this nature normally can be postponed for a period of time depending upon the status of anyone’s case. If necessary, teleconferencing will be an option.
As of Monday, March 16th, the Minnesota Supreme Court issued an Order that the courthouses across the State of Minnesota are suspending all cases with certain exceptions. The effect thereof is that in general, most civil cases are suspended with some exceptions. The suspension will last until March 30th, and reviewed at that time. This pause likely represents an opportunity for our judiciary to come to terms with the new procedures they will be implementing for all cases requiring the use of the courthouse.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us in that regard. Finally, Malzahn Law, Ltd. would ask that you keep in mind that we are all in this together, and together, we will come through it.
